Today I am writing to you being very emotional, I don’t know where this recap is going to lead us but I am writing with an open heart as usual. I know I want to address online shaming, the fun I had during the Facebook live, the gifts you can win and for the rest I will just go with the flow. Welcome and enjoy the ride. ( Loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee <3 )
Yesterday I was with Charlotte, she's a friend, a sweetheart, someone I value and with whom I love spending time. She’s nothing of a makeup fan and I felt that it is important for every woman to feel accepted and welcomed even in the makeup circle that they might not understand very well. It was a makeup look for beginners and Charlotte was very courageous to try to do some of the makeup, practice makes perfection, don’t give up and try to practice self-love with makeup when you can. Hopefully the Jennifer lipstick and Rachelle gloss that she received from Raya Cosmetiques will help her.
I started the live by applying a face mask from The Face Shop, the Berry Goji one. A healthy skin helps to keep makeup away so If your skin is already glowing then it’s a great way to skip foundation for example. I am in love with The Face Shop's face masks, bravo Karine for bringing these to Mauritius. Love them!
While the mask was sinking into the skin, those who watched the video could hear my speech on how we have to be aware of the power that we have on social media and that we should use our voice to do good. I have experienced bullying in my life and even been suicidal because of all the pain I have felt. Nothing new for those who follow me as I have often been very vocal about mental health. Thankfully working hard on being very positive and loving towards myself made me stronger but there are days where I still feel weak. I go through all the comments, posts and messages to count the participants for the giveaways. I see what you post and let’s be clear that does not concern the major part of positive messages that I saw and received, but I also saw nasty jokes or comments on my work or sexuality.
It is a choice that I made to publicly share my work and way of thinking and as a grown up adult I take responsibility for my choice. I started shaking and doubting. That is the power that you have; the power to impact people’s lives. It is always a choice to impact either positively or negatively other’s lives. Being behind a screen doesn’t grant you the right to hurt others. I send light and love to these people! I know that you have to be hurting somehow to spread hate and make fun of others. I have hated before, I know what it is. Hate is often the only defense mechanism that we learn to have but beautiful humans you can also be happy and entertained by being kind and loving. Close the door on all these times you were told that kindness and all the right values will have you abused. Choose to be good and to be you but it takes balls or ovaries as it is a lifetime challenge. As a grown up adult I CHOOSE TO SPREAD KINDNESS, POSITIVITY AND MY PASSION FOR BEAUTY! I CHOOSE TO STAY MYSELF. I CHOOSE LOVE OVER THE FEAR OF BEING JUDGED! Be careful and be kind, social media allows me to connect with you but also allows you to connect with me and it is our common responsibility to connect in a way that will empower both of us.
Okkkkkkkkkkkkk, let’s get back to makeup.
Foundation and subtle smokey eyes:
After the face mask I primed the skin with my favourite Radiance by Laura Mercier and applied a shear layer of the Dream Cushion Foundation by Maybelline NY with some Accord Parfait Powder by L’Oréal.
Next was the brows with the Maybelline Brow Drama Pomade Crayon in Deep Brownand eye makeup for which I used only one brown eye shadow with a wet brush to create a soft brown smokey with a smudged eye liner made with the Color Show Crayon Khol Eyeliner Pencil Number 100. Great and easy technique for beginners with only few products.
Blush and contouring
I quickly contoured and applied blush with the Shiseido Face Color Enhancing Trio, the darkest shade, and highlighted with the Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio BE 213 Nude which is in fact a shimmery eye shadow. And if you don’t have much makeup, learn how to use what you already have in many other ways. Be creative as there are no rules in makeup
Then it was time for the lips and this how this fresh and sweet look was transformed into a statement look. First I prepped the lips using my all-time favorite lip product, the lip scrub from The Face Shop. It is heaven in a tube.
Bold lips are the best way to look like you have much makeup on even if you don’t know how to apply makeup. Great tip for the beginners. I used Color Sensational in the shade Midnight Merlot from Maybelline as lipstick and added the lip lacquer of Shiseido in the shade Lust (RD305) on top of it. OMG! I AM OBSSEDED BY THIS LIP LACQUER! Amazing! It added an Oompf effect and I just can’t get enough of it and was blessed to discover it.
Talking about blessings, the lucky girls of the week are Charlotte who left with a lipstick, a lip gloss from Raya Cosmétiques and a face mask from The Face Shop while Melissa Ossiany is the winner of our Rs 4000 worth giveaway from The Face Shop and Lancôme and Mado Parfums.
It was a very easy look to do and I hope you get to recreate it at home. Thank you for all your love, beautiful messages and pictures of you recreating Clémie’s makeup two weeks ago. I feel like a kid in front of the gifts under the Christmas tree with these beautiful surprises. Thank you.
