First of all, I am not sponsored nor paid by any brand to say nice things about their products, what is coming is my honest opinion, something I would like to read while enquiring about the effectiveness of a product I’m interested in buying. I always value the opinion of well-known and trust worthy makeup artists or youtubers as it helps me to invest in the right products and I’ve never been disappointed when I follow their guidelines.
One month ago, Dominique Raya, the owner of Raya Cosmetiques contacted me as she needed a makeup artist for a photo shoot for her brand, using only her makeup. I have been approached several times by small or new brands and each time my reaction was WTF is that brand again, a new cheap brand that we will have to force down our throat? Anyway it was a paid job and the client, seemed super respectful and professional, so I went for it but I was still skeptical.
I arrived at the photographer’s studio and I was blown away! First of all by how diverse and complete the whole set of makeup is, from eye shadows to foundation, primers, lipsticks, blushes, etc… I had everything I needed to work and the striking colors of the eye shadows really had me gagging, I’m not exaggerating, I was shocked but so pleasantly shocked.
One year ago my bestie was talking about this trend in Australia with natural/organic makeup and how this is going to develop into a huge industry as people tend to trust more and more natural products
I did two looks, a soft one with a light orange eye shadow and nude lips and a dramatic one with a black smokey eyes and red lips. I was very impressed that I was able to do her whole face using mostly her products. Impressive! This really taught me not to underestimate new brands, to be more open-minded and always be willing to try new things. The shoot lasted about 3 hours and as I packed to leave, Dominique told me to visit her shop at Trou aux Biches to discover her makeup and that she will give me some samples. You can be sure that I was ready to travel 6 hours by bus just to go there! Fortunately a couple of friends and I were going to the beach in the north the following week and what did I receive? Not some samples, not the orange eye shadow palette I was praying to receive, but EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING! Gosh I was happy! Really happy and grateful!
.When the very casual and approachable Dominique Raya introduced me to her brand which is 90 % natural, paraben-free and not tested on animals, I was like a kid who really wanted to play with all the available toys (makeup) but also felt like a grown up adult who’s very concerned about the impact of chemicals on our health.
Talking about the products more precisely I adore the concealer palette, the eye shadows, the primers and the orange blushes! The formula of these products are fabulous and I have been working with them lately nonstop, they are easy to use, pigmented etc… I definitely need to write a full review on them to let you know how I like to use each product and how good they are.
I will end this post by saying that it is so easy to be judgmental and scared of something you’ve heard nothing about before, I am the first one to make this mistake however keeping a positive mind and an open heart allows me to experience the best opportunities and that’s what happened with Raya Cosmetiques. It is a brand that makes my life as a makeup lover, even more fun.
