Yes we already are at this time where we are saying goodbye to the Obama after 8 years at the White House. We are closing a historic chapter made of 8 years of charisma, leadership and humanity. Being so moved by the speech of Barack Obama and the emotional goodbye messages to the first lady, Michelle Obama, we couldn’t but highlight the reasons why we love her:
The role model:
We were tempted to say Michelle Obama is what meritocracy can produce. But this remains an ideal system. There is no meritocracy; there are people who have the same opportunities but not equal chances of succeeding because of how they look, where they come from or what they earn.
Michelle taught us that when life is unfair, you have to work harder, to trust yourself and not to believe those who tell you that you are aiming too high. You are as talented and intelligent as those who were born luckier but you just have to create your own luck.
The fashion icon:
Since 2008 when she became first lady Michelle Obama became a fashion icon with her elegant, bold and impacting fashion choices. Her fashion evolution showed a transition from polished looks to an edgy and modern style. She is seen as the most fashionable first lady since Jackie Kennedy.
Her flawless makeup:
Similarly to her fashion style Michelle Obama’s makeup evolved considerably within these eight years. Back to her beginning as first lady she had this classy makeup with thin defined brows, flawless skin, light eye makeup and nude lips.
Michelle’s makeup artist Carl Ray kept her makeup up to date as her eye makeup became more sophisticated with the smokey eyes and lashes, her eye brows also became thicker and she did not miss the contouring and highlighting trend. However he kept the nude lips this time with brown lip pencil and gloss to keep the focus on her eyes.
Her great humor, sense of decency, love for children, will be missed as she is someone we looked up to. Thank you Michelle Obama for bringing us hope, strength and kindness.
